| X-Type is Jaguar's overdue response to the BMW 3-Series. Although it isn't a better car, X-Type is distinctive and appealing in its own right. There's a range of refined V6 petrol engines plus a more recently launched turbodiesel engine that's not as quick but returns over 50mpg and performs remarkably smoothly. The larger engined models have a four-wheel drive system, so they grip the road superbly well in all weathers. Indeed the handling of this compact Jaguar is as sporty as buyers should expect. And Ford engineering input makes it all the more affordable. Inside it's all Jaguar, with traditional wood and leather. Drivers will appreciate the well laid out controls and comfortable seat. There's a decent amount of room for passengers, although the shallow boot puts a limit on the size of load. The recently launched estate model addresses this issue and it is a very handsome looking car. |
